FAQ
Everything people ask us before they order: how a Brew Pop works, what is inside it, minimums, personalization, timing, shipping and what happens if something goes wrong.
Ordering for a date? Read this one first.
Production takes 5 to 6 days and delivery takes 3 to 7 business days after that, so please allow about 3 weeks before your event. If you need your order in hand within two weeks, email us before you place it at info@sipnfox.com with your date and your zip code. We can very often make room for someone who writes to us first.
The Brew Pop
It looks like candy. It is actually a cup of tea.
What exactly is a Brew Pop?
A Brew Pop is a handmade tea lollipop. Real loose leaf tea, dried fruit, berries and edible flowers are set inside a clear, sugar free candy shell on a bamboo stick.
You do not eat it. You drop it into a cup of hot water and it dissolves into a full cup of tea, with the fruit and flowers opening up in front of you.
How do I brew one?
Place the pop in about 10 oz (300 ml) of boiling water. Stir for roughly 2 minutes until the candy fully dissolves, then let it steep for 10 to 15 minutes. Lift out the stick and enjoy.
Nothing else is needed. The sweetness is already in the pop.
Can I eat it like candy instead?
You can. It is food safe. But it was designed to be brewed, and that is where the flavor actually lives, so we always suggest hot water first.
How many cups does one pop make?
One generous cup, about 10 to 12 oz. For a teapot, use one pop per cup of water.
Can I make iced tea with it?
Yes, and it is beautiful. Dissolve the pop in a small amount of hot water first, let it steep, then pour the concentrate over a full glass of ice.
What does it taste like?
Light, floral and gently sweet. Not syrupy. The exact character depends on the blend you choose, from bright berry to soft peach and rose.
How big is a Brew Pop?
The heart is about 2.2 inches wide. With the bamboo stick and wooden bead the whole piece is about 6 inches long, which is why it photographs so well on a place setting.
What flavors are available?
Our core lineup is Peach Petal Glow, Floral Tea Elixir, Crimson Cherry Kiss, Raspberry Cloud and Blushing Berry.
You can also choose Mix, which is the most popular option for events: every guest gets a different one.
Can I mix flavors in one order?
Yes. Choose Mix and we will spread the flavors evenly across your order.
Ingredients & Diet
If we would not put it in our own family's cup, it does not go in yours. Every ingredient we work with is listed on our Ingredient Guide.
Is there sugar in a Brew Pop?
No. Our pops are sugar free and made with isomalt, a sweetener derived from beet sugar. It gives the same clear, glass like shell as candy sugar but with about half the calories.
Isomalt does not promote tooth decay, which is one reason it is used in fine sugar art.
Sugar free. Not a low calorie food. Not a reduced calorie food. Not for weight control.
Is isomalt safe? Any side effects?
Isomalt is a widely used sugar alcohol, approved for food use and vegan, gluten free and dairy free. As with all sugar alcohols, eating a large quantity at once may have a laxative effect. Brewed as intended, one pop per cup, this is not a concern for most people.
Does it contain caffeine?
It depends on the blend inside. Anything built on black, green or jasmine leaf contains caffeine. Our pure fruit infusions, herbal blends and rooibos blends are naturally caffeine free.
Every blend is marked on the Ingredient Guide. If you need a fully caffeine free order for an evening event, tell us and we will build it that way.
Is it suitable for kids?
Yes, when you choose a caffeine free fruit blend. It is sugar free, so it is a favorite for children's parties and christenings.
Please supervise small children: the piece sits on a pointed bamboo stick.
Are your products vegan and gluten free?
Yes. Everything we work with is plant based, and no gluten containing ingredients are used. The isomalt, the edible gold dust and the food coloring are likewise vegan, gluten free and dairy free.
I have a nut allergy. Can I order?
Some of our teas are produced in facilities that also handle nuts, and the manufacturer states this on the packaging where it applies. If you have a nut allergy, please email us at info@sipnfox.com before ordering and we will confirm the exact blend for you.
Are your products kosher or halal certified?
Several of the loose teas we use carry kosher certification from their own producers. The finished Brew Pops are not certified yet. Certification is something we are actively working on.
If certification matters for your event, email us and we will tell you exactly what we can document today.
How long do they keep, and how should I store them?
Best within 6 months of the date you receive them. Keep them sealed, in a cool dry place, away from direct sun and away from humidity. A kitchen cabinet is perfect. A steamy bathroom or a hot car is not.
Humidity is the real enemy: it makes the candy surface tacky. Sealed and dry, they hold beautifully.
I am pregnant or taking medication. Is herbal tea fine?
Herbal ingredients such as hibiscus, licorice root, echinacea and raspberry leaf are not right for everyone. If you are pregnant, nursing, taking medication or managing a medical condition, please check with your doctor before drinking herbal teas regularly.
Ordering & Personalization
Everything is made to order, by hand, after you place it.
Is there a minimum order?
For favors, most designs start at 10 pieces. A few ribbon only styles start at 25.
Gift boxes and gift sets have no minimum. One is perfectly fine.
Can I put my own message on them?
Yes. You can add a personal message of up to 8 words, printed on the sticker on the back of each favor. Names, a date, a thank you, a wedding hashtag.
We confirm the exact wording with you before anything is printed. If you would like to see a digital proof first, just ask.
What are the personalization options and prices?
- Ribbon with a message on the back sticker, from $4.50 per piece
- Printed tag with your message, from $5.50 per piece
- Keepsake card sets with lace, teddy or floral cards, $7.90 to $9.90 per piece
- Bulk packs: 100 pieces with custom ribbon at $390, or 100 with custom tag at $499
Ribbons come in 16 colors, so we can match almost any palette.
Can I order a sample before committing to a large order?
Yes. We offer a paid sample set so you can see the finish, the size and the color in person before you order for 150 guests. Email info@sipnfox.com with your event date and guest count and we will put one together for you.
How far in advance should I order?
Every piece is poured, decorated and finished by hand, so production takes 5 to 6 days. Transit then adds 3 to 7 business days, and the further you are from New Jersey the longer that second part runs.
For a dated event, please order at least 3 weeks ahead. That is the timeline where nothing has to go perfectly for your favors to be on the table in time.
If you need your order in hand within the next two weeks, email us before you order. We will check the production schedule and your delivery zone and tell you honestly whether the date is possible. For orders above 300 pieces, please write to us first either way so we can reserve production time for you.
I need it sooner. Do you take rush orders?
Very often yes, and we do not charge extra for it. Almost everyone who needs a tight date writes to us first, and we make room for them. It depends on two things: what is already in the production schedule that week, and where you live. We can move you up in our own queue, but we cannot speed up the postal service, so a tight date to Alaska is a different question than a tight date to New Jersey.
Email us with your date and your zip code before you place the order. If we can do it, we will say yes. If we cannot, we would rather tell you now than let you find out on the day of your event.
Can I change or cancel my order after placing it?
Write to us as soon as possible and we will do everything we can. Once a personalized order has gone into production, the printed pieces cannot be changed.
Do you take very large orders?
Yes. Large celebrations, galas and corporate programs are a regular part of what we do. Send us your count and your date and we will confirm the timeline before you pay for anything.
Can you match my color palette?
In most cases yes. We keep 16 ribbon colors in stock, and tags and cards are printed for your order, so the wording, the font and the artwork can follow your event design.
Weddings, Showers & Events
Most of what we make ends up on a place setting.
Do the favors arrive ready to place on the table?
Yes. Every piece arrives individually finished with its ribbon, tag or card already attached. There is no assembly and nothing to tie. You open the box and set them out.
How many should I order for my guest count?
One per guest, plus a small buffer of about 5 to 10 percent. Guests take a second one for someone who could not come, and you will want a few for photographs.
Can you ship straight to my venue or planner?
We can ship anywhere in the US, including to a venue or a planner. That said, we usually recommend shipping to you at least a week early so you can see the box with your own eyes before the day, and so a slow delivery week never becomes an emergency.
Will they melt in summer?
Isomalt is far more heat stable than chocolate, so a warm delivery day is not a problem in itself. What does cause trouble is a package sitting in direct sun or in a closed car.
Bring the box inside promptly and keep it out of the sun, and your favors will be perfect on the day.
What occasions do people order these for?
Weddings, bridal showers, baby showers, christenings and baptisms, milestone birthdays, anniversaries, engagement parties, holiday tables and corporate galas.
They work especially well when guests span several generations, because the pops are sugar free and can be made caffeine free.
Do you work with event planners?
Yes, regularly. If you plan events professionally, email us and we will set you up with samples and a straightforward way to reorder for each client.
Corporate & Branded Gifting
A gift that gets opened at the desk, and remembered.
Can you put our logo on the gift?
Yes. Our custom design card sets are printed with your artwork, your message and your brand colors, and each card is paired with a Brew Pop.
Current pricing: 50 custom cards with Brew Pops at $430, 100 at $750.
What do companies use these for?
Client thank you gifts, conference and trade show tables, closing gifts, employee appreciation, holiday sends and welcome kits for new hires.
How much lead time do you need for a corporate order?
Please allow 3 to 4 weeks for a branded order: the cards are designed and printed for you, production runs 5 to 6 days, and then it still has to travel. If your deadline is tighter, write to us first and we will tell you what is realistic.
Can you ship to multiple addresses?
Tell us what you need. For multi address sends, email info@sipnfox.com with your list and your date and we will work out the logistics with you before you order.
Shipping
Everything is made and shipped from our studio in Maplewood, New Jersey. Made to order, which means the clock starts when you order, not before.
How long will my order take?
Two separate stages, and both matter:
- Production: 5 to 6 days. Nothing sits on a shelf waiting for you. Your order is made after you place it.
- Delivery: 3 to 7 business days after it ships, depending on how far you are from New Jersey.
So please plan on about two weeks from click to doorstep, and order 3 weeks ahead of a dated event.
Orders are processed Monday through Friday. An order placed after 5 PM on Friday or over the weekend starts the following Monday.
Why does this take longer than a big online store?
Because there is no warehouse behind us. A large retailer ships you something that already exists in a box somewhere near your city. We start making your order the day it comes in, by hand, and only then does it travel across the country.
That is also why we ask for your date early. If you order today and you live in Alaska, we cannot put it in your hands in three days, no matter how much we want to.
Do you offer overnight or express shipping?
We try very hard not to. We have paid for overnight service several times, at around $150 a package, and watched the carrier miss the date anyway. The customer had paid, we had paid, and the gift still was not there for the occasion.
We would rather decline an order than take your money for a promise the postal service will not keep. If your date is tight, email us at info@sipnfox.com and we will look at it with you before you pay for anything.
Do you ship internationally?
At the moment we ship within the United States only.
Will I get tracking?
Yes. As soon as your package is handed to USPS or UPS you will receive a tracking number by email. Once it leaves our studio, delivery timing is in the carrier's hands, and estimated dates in tracking can move.
I entered the wrong address. What now?
Contact us immediately at info@sipnfox.com. If the package has not shipped yet we can usually fix it. Once it is with the carrier we cannot redirect it, and we are not able to replace packages sent to an address entered incorrectly at checkout.
How is the order packed?
Each piece is packed to travel: protected individually and cushioned inside the shipping box, so the ribbons and cards arrive exactly as they left us.
Returns & Problems
The short version: food items are final sale, and anything damaged in transit gets replaced free.
What is your return policy?
Because everything we make is a fresh, handmade food item, all sales are final. For safety and hygiene reasons we cannot accept returns or issue refunds on food products, including for a change of mind or an incorrect selection at checkout.
The one exception is damage in shipping, which we replace at no cost. Full details are in our Return Policy.
My order arrived damaged. What do I do?
We will replace it free of charge. Contact us within 7 days of receiving your order, with clear photos of the damaged items and of the packaging, by email at info@sipnfox.com or on Instagram at @sip_n_fox. Once we confirm, the replacement goes into production right away.
My pops do not all look identical. Is that a defect?
No, that is the handmade part. Every pop is poured and finished by hand, so small differences in shade, shape and the placement of the flowers are normal, and honestly they are our favorite thing about the product.
Tracking says delivered, but I do not have the package.
Check with neighbors, your building's mailroom and any side or back entrance first, since carriers often leave packages out of sight. If it is still missing, the claim goes to USPS or UPS directly, as they hold the proof of delivery.
Once a carrier marks a package as delivered, the order counts as fulfilled and we are not able to replace it. Write to us anyway and we will help you push the claim through.
My package looks lost in transit.
Contact the carrier first with your tracking number. If they confirm the package is lost, write to us and we will help you file the claim.
How do I reach a human?
Email info@sipnfox.com or message us on Instagram at @sip_n_fox. A real person reads both, and if your event is close, say so in the first line and we will move you up.
Still not sure what to order?
Tell us the occasion, the guest count and the date. That is all we need to recommend a design and confirm whether the timing works. Write to info@sipnfox.com.
